We’re committed to reducing food waste and single-use plastics across our operations with the dual goals of conserving resources and minimizing our environmental footprint.

We use tracking and forecasting tools to proactively identify food waste trends in order to alter our preparation accordingly.
Showcasing Our Local Partner Relationships
Francis Marion Dining sources food from many local farmers, growers, and distributors. Our partners change throughout the year depending on seasonality and availability.
Local Farm Vendor Partners
Over 40 local farmers partner with our Produce Supplier Fresh Point to deliver fresh and local vegetables to the Florence, SC area. 23 of those local farmers are located less than 200 miles from Francis Marion Univeristy, supporting our sustainability efforts to reduce our carbon footprint.

Francis Marion Dining is committed to drastically reducing single-use plastics across our dining locations including plastic straws, bags, stirrers, and containers.
Choose to Reuse
Ervin Dining Hall choses to reuse with green reusable to-go containers, reducing food and packaging waste while driving environmental and economic impact.
Green Cleaning
Dining locations at Francis Marion University use select green cleaning products that have associated certifications. The use of these products or services is an instant indicator that they have met or exceeded leadership-level, life-cycle-based criteria for sustainability.
